Whitworth Cemetery Heritage Open Day 10/9/17 – Volunteers Needed!
Valley Heritage are working with Rossendale Council to hold a public heritage day at Whitworth Cemetery on 10th September between 2-4pm
One of the chapels will be open to the public and there will be historic information about the chapels and cemetery on display and to take away as leaflets. There might also be a walk around the wider cemetery too if the weather is fine to look at the oldest grave in the cemetery as well as the war graves. The cemetery is at the top of Edward Street, off Market Street, Whitworth OL12 8LE
The event is supported by Whitworth Town Council and the Mayor and Mayoress will be attending. Whitworth Museum will also be there with a stall of their own about Whitworth.
Valley Heritage now just need some volunteer help. The volunteer roles are quite simple really as the main chapel itself is quite small and there are no steps. The group are asking for volunteers to sign people in, to share information and leaflets, to talk a bit about Valley Heritage etc. There will be tables and chairs so it shouldn’t be a strenuous day.
If anyone could spare a few hours, we would be very grateful and if you know anyone you think might be interested, please contact Rachael on 07966 701759 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
