Our vision statement for Whitworth Community High School is simple: to become an outstanding school. Our focus for 2015-2016 continues to be ‘Climbing Higher’ which reflects our commitment to continue to raise aspirations, raise achievement and thus raise results.
Following on from our successful Ofsted inspection and improved GCSE examination success, we have well-founded confidence in our capacity to achieve even greater heights: our wonderful, well-motivated students, inspirational and committed staff and supportive families celebrate our success so far and know that we have already taken great strides on our path to the summit.
Whitworth Community High School aims to equip all learners with the skills needed to succeed in a changing world. We aim to encourage all our students to achieve their potential through a culture of high expectations for everyone.
Learning is at the centre of all that we do and we aim to encourage a commitment to learning that is not based solely on the acquisition of knowledge but on the development of the skills, attributes and values needed to encourage life-long learning.
Life-long learning is for teachers too and Whitworth Community High School is committed to encouraging collaborative approaches to planning and development so that teachers can learn from each other. This involves the creating of a ‘safe’ environment where all learners, both staff and students, can openly discuss individual strengths and areas for improvement without feeling a sense of ‘failure’.
Our learning community should be characterised by a ‘can-do’ culture, where learners are offered a diverse range of activities and methods of learning to raise aspirations.
