St. Peters CE Church, Haslingden is a very modern building with flexible worship space that was built after a severe fire in 1988, St Peter’s is a lively and active congregation with many activities for all ages.
There is a large community centre attached to the church which hosts groups of many types: Explorers, Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cubs, Rainbows & Beavers meet each week. There is a Flower-arranging group, Yoga and Keep Fit groups, a local Badminton team play in the Hall and the facilities are shared with the Helmshore Christian Fellowship who worship in the hall each Sunday.
There are regular prayer groups and bible study groups meeting in church and the Home Communion rounds for the three parishes in Haslingden & Helmshore are co-ordinated from here.
The congregation has an active social programme for all ages and is especially welcoming to families with young children. The Diocese of Blackburn awarded St Peter’s their Child Friendly Church award in 2009.
There is a permanent Fairtrade stall in church.
