Rossendale Lions Club is part of the global Lions Club network. The Lions were born in Chicago in 1917, and their headquarters can still be found there to this day.
Meetings take place every 3rd Thursday of the month at 19:00.
Lions Clubs exist across the globe, their aim is to raise money for worthy causes and to provide help when the need arises. The Lions International Fund has helped local communities in times of natural disasters, such as floods and earthquakes, and during periods of human conflict.
At a local level, perhaps the event for which the Rossendale Lions are best known is the sleigh that tours the Rossendale valley during December. The money raised during this and other events the Lions have participated in, is donated to a number of very worthy causes including Rossendale Hospice, Macmillan nurses, Air Ambulance and Guide Dogs for the Blind to name but a few.
