The Wellbeing & Mental Health Helpline was launched in August 1996 following a nationwide review of mental health services. The Helpline is a listening, information and emotional support service for those concerned about their own mental health, or that of someone they know.

The Helpline is open Monday to Friday 7pm – 11pm and Weekends 12 midday – 12 midnight. The service is open to residents of Lancashire by dialling Freephone 0800 915 4640.

We aim to provide ‘out of hours’ telephone support to anyone concerned about mental health, or that of someone they know, and to provide mental health information.

Our trained operators have access to a database that contains details of over 800 local and national services and support groups.  We aim to provide immediate emotional support for anyone experiencing distress, and aim to empower callers through information to make their own choices about how their health care needs may be met.

Many people can feel isolated and are unaware of the support, services and resources available to them.  The Helpline is available 365 days a year during evenings and weekends when many other services may be closed.
