All of us at Irwell Medical Practice aim to provide high quality healthcare to you, our patients. All our staff are dedicated to offer a professional service and strive to be courteous, friendly, and helpful to you.

You will find information about the practice such as how to join, make appointments, and obtain prescriptions on our website. For patients with disabilities, our surgery is fully accessible.  There is also advice about how to deal with common health problems, and how to keep yourself healthy.

Historically Bacup was an industrial town which specialised in the cotton and slipper industries. The practice is based on the former Irwell Mill site and is now a spacious and modern Health Centre in the centre of Bacup.

The practice was formed by a merger of three practices from Bacup and Stacksteads and was officially formed in 2005. Our 10th anniversary has just passed!

We hope you will contribute and participate and tell us how we are performing and meeting health needs. The government has put forward a friends and family test as one way of gathering your views.

From 1 April 2015, it is a contractual requirement for all English practices to have a patient participation group (PPG) and to make reasonable efforts for this to be representative of the practice population. For more information about Irwell Medical Practice’s PPG please contact the surgery.
