Last year across the valley Civic Pride Rossendale estimate that they collected 3000bags of litter! That’s about 18 tons or an incredible 1.5 million pieces!
Litter picking is not a skilled operation and so with the correct equipment and guidelines on Health & Safety in place, it’s something that most people can be involved with. The satisfaction in filling a bag ‘full to bursting’ and being thanked by members of the public as you’re doing it is both motivating and worthwhile – even addictive!
Whether you prefer to go out by yourself at a time to suit you or as part of a group Civic Pride Rossendale provide all the equipment and as much support as you need.
Civic pride means taking a pride in the town in which we live, in trying to make our environment a better place to live and work. Restoring derelict public gardens, planning, creating new ones and maintaining them for the benefit of local residents, businesses and visitors alike, are the primary goals of our enthusiastic gardening team.
Civic Pride Rossendale have an active education outreach team whose work is in high demand, working with schools, youth groups, (uniformed and others) using play and interactive games. The session can be extended to include hands on work but this must be done under the direction of the organisation’s teachers/leaders and covered by your own insurance.
CPR are also happy to undertake talks to local societies, clubs, faith groups and other organisations. There is no charge but donations are always welcome!
