Great British Spring Clean 2018 ** UPDATED **
The Great British Spring Clean 2018 is a campaign with a simple aim
Between 2 – 4 March 2018 (or whenever the weather permits, up to and including 25 March), ‘Keep Britain Tidy’ want to bring people across the country together to clear up the litter that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches.
They want to inspire 400,000 people to get outdoors, get active and help clear up the rubbish that lies around us. Join the growing army of #LitterHeroes who have had enough of other people’s litter and are willing to do something about it.
Please come and get involved in tidying your local area by joining the Civic Pride teams who have organised a host of events and activities to coincide with the Great British Spring Clean 2018 campaign:
UPDATE from Civic Pride
1-3-18:“Friday’s and Saturday’s Grand Litterpicks are postponed – that is, rescheduled to another time/date which as yet haven’t been organised. Sunday’s session is on hold at the moment”
3-3-18:”We’re re-scheduling the whole weekend’s effort to later this month, probably to 23/24/24th.”
Please check beforehand with organisers that events are still running if you plan to get involved.
Friday 2nd March
- Bacup Pride
1pm to 3pm, meeting at the back of the market cabin on Market St, OL13 9NH to clear up Market St area.
- Rossendale Civic Pride
meet 10am at the Boar’s Head Newchurch Civic Pride’s newly-elected Litter Officer, Ben Parkin, will be in charge.
- At Buffer Stops in the East Lancs Railway Rawtenstall Station, from 8pm onwards Civic Pride have their regular social event. New recruits are especially welcome to come and join in this friendly get-together.
Saturday 3rd March
Bacup Pride meet 10 am at the lock-up clearing the back of Mario’s and Bacup Centre Rossendale Civic Pride meet outside McDonald’s for a joint effort withCivic Pride Haslingden and staff from McD’s. They will be picking Haslingden Rd and adjacent roads.
Sunday 4th March
10am onwards, Bacup Pride are clearing Rochdale Rd, South St and as much of the Coconutters’ Easter route as possible – the amount depends on numbers of volunteers so please come and join them. Civic Pride and CP Haslingden will meet at 10am at the St Crispin’s Way/Flip Rd/Bentwood Rd cross-roads to do as much of the Carrs Industrial estate as possible. As many hands on deck as possible are needed!
